
Stirling – Multi-breed Bull Sale – May ’25
United Auctions’ May multi-breed bull sale enjoyed a fantastic trade with high clearances in all breeds and a record top price for the event of 30,000gns.
Charolais met a 90% clearance, with 38 bulls averaging out at £11,481, an increase of £4692 per head on the year. They also achieved the day’s top price of 30,000gns, for Goldies Upperclass, a 17-month-old from Hamish Goldie, Mouswald, Dumfries.
Demand was high for Simmental bulls too, with 100% clearance for the 25 bulls on offer and a sale average of £8795, up by £2075 on the year. Top price was 15,500gns for Delfur Prince, from Delfur Farms’ herd at Rothes.
Aberdeen Angus bulls also saw a 100% clearance, with 21 averaging out at £8325, up by £3030 on the year. Trade peaked at 12,000gns twice, with Thrunton Puma making that money first for the Campbells, from Alnwick, then Blelack Hill Black Jester, from AN Calcott and Son, Blelack, Dinnet, making the same.
A small entry of Salers saw a new breed record set when the champion, Rednock Top Gun, from Gill and Malcolm Pye, sold at 20,000gns. Overall, the nine Salers bulls averaged out at £10,663, up by £3435 on the year.
Beef Shorthorns sold to a top of 8500gns twice, with 13 bulls selling to average £6647. Making joint top price was the reserve champion, Upsall Castle Farms’ Trade Mark of Upsall, and Gerald and Morag Smith’s Drumsleed Triton.
The Limousin breed enjoyed a 93% clearance, with 39 bulls selling to average £8901, up by £2201 on last year’s sale. Making a breed record price for the May sale was the champion, Anside Urban, from the Irvine family’s herd at Drummuir, Keith, which sold at 22,000gns.

Delfur Prince topped the Simmental trade at 15,500gns, selling to W Moffat, Innerwick, Dunbar.

Pitgaveny Presto sold at 13,000gns to G and M Porter, Carrabus, Argyll

The champion Islavale Pegasus, sold at 12,000gns to Liam Muir, Orkney

Reserve champion, Islavale Pilot gwent at 12,000gns to J and J Marshall, Daleigh, Advie

Thrunton Puma sold at 12,000gns to S and J Fisher, Cleuchhead, Bonchester Bridge

Also making 12,000gns was Blelack Hill Black Jester, to the Scottish Government Bull Stud, Inverness

Champion, Tonley Victor made 11,000gns to R Forrest, Preston, Duns

Tonley Electric also made 11,000gns, selling to J Price, Cairneydrouth, Cardross
