Lanark – Texel – Aug ’24
Trade peaked at 70,000gns at the Texel Sheep Society’s Scottish National sale at Lanark, with a further 13 lots at five-figure prices.
Leading the way was Hexel High Voltage, from the MacPherson family’s 14-ewe flock, based at Castlehills, Berwick-upon-Tweed, which sold to a team of four buyers – Stuart Barclay, Harestone; Kenny Pratt, Hiltop; Jim Innes, Strathbogie, and Charlie Harkin, The Rock. A March-born son of last year’s private purchase, Strathbogie Gladiator, out of a ewe by Haymount Crackerjack, this one eclipsed the family’s previous top of 65,000gns for Hexel Django.
Overall, 174 ram lambs sold to average £3807 – a fall of £1500 per head on last year’s record average, for 48 fewer sold. The sale of gimmers topped at 5000gns for one from Topwood, with the 19 gimmers averaging out at £1146.71.

Mellor Vale Hercules sold at 20,000gns to Auldhouseburn
Mellor Vale Huntsman reached 17,000gns, to Hope Valley, Thornbury and Morwood
Milnbank Hercules sold for 12,000gns to Cowal and Haddo
Wedderburn Highlander made 12,000gns to Claybury
Clanfield Han Solo sold at 12,000gns to Craigdarroch, Scrogtonhead and Wanton Walls
Okehall Hotshot made 12,000gns to Clanfield
Holtridge Honky Tonk sold at 11,000gns to Clanfield
Uppermill Hotshot made 11,000gns to Rascarrel
Teiglum High Flyer sold at 10,000gns to Hartside, Midlock and Overburns
