Stars of the Future ’18

Some lovely youngstock were on show at the Stars of the Future event at UA’s Stirling Market.

In the inter-breeds, the senior continental section was won by John Christie’s 14-month-old Charolais bull, Westcarse Nimrod, with reserve going to Andrew Gammie’s 14-month-old Limousin bull, Westpit Nashville. The junior continentals were led by Aileen Ritchie’s eight-month-old Limousin bull, Ritchies Oracle, with Charlotte Alford’s 10-month-old British Blue heifer, Foxhill Nadiya, standing reserve.

The native senior inter-breed winner was Richard and Carol Rettie’s 13-month-old Aberdeen-Angus heifer, Retties Pam T420, which stood ahead of HM The Queen’s Highland bull, Prionnsa Dubh 2nd of Balmoral. Leading the junior natives was David Raeburn’s 10-month-old Angus heifer, Tulloes Pride, while Rattray Estate’s eight-month-old Beef Shorthorn heifer, Rattray Maddie, stood reserve.

The Joe Watson Memorial Trophy was won by a pair of Charolais heifers from the McMurrich family, Formakin Opal and Formakin Octopusy.

The Joe Watson memorial pairs competition was won by the Charolais pair of Formakin Opal and Formakin Octopussy from Robin McMurrich. Reserve were Jack Ramsay’s Shothorn pair of Millerston Man O War and Millerston Gretta Mandy

Overall Young Handler Champion was Emma Smith, with Frank Gwynn taking the reserve prize
