Valais Blacknose Beauties

The third annual Valais Blacknose Sheep show and sale took place over the weekend at Borderway Mart, Carlise. The 191 sheep entered were graded by the Oberwalliser Schwarznasen Schafzuchverband judges, Josef Eyer and Stefan Schnidrig on Friday before being shown on Saturday with only some of the top graded sheep available for sale after the show.

Taking the overall supreme championship were Raymond Irvine and Jenni McAllister, with Highland Eric, a year-old tup. In reserve was the female champion Sue and Tim Dunne’s two-year-old ewe, Westmorland Dilly.

As well as winning the show, Raymond and Jenni had the three top priced lots in the sale. Their topper was Highland Egbert a year-old tup, selling for 10,000gns to Valais Blacknose Breeders NZ Ltd.
