
Texel – Lanark ’18
A six-figure top price and a further 19 lots at five-figures, ensured that averages increased by more than £700 on the year, at the Scottish National Show and Sale of Texels at Lanark. Overall, 325 ram lambs sold to average £3417.04, compared to 414 at £2707.69 in 2017.
Top price at 125,000gns, was Myfyr Evans’ Rhaeadr Best Of The Best, a Teiglum Young Gun son, out of an Auldhouseburn-bred ewe that was bought at the Select Seven sale as a gimmer in 2016.
The previous evening, gimmers peaked at 18,000gns, for one from Robert Bennett’s Plasucha flock, a daughter of Eden Valley Wiz Kid out of a ewe by Garngour Upperclass. A total of 54 gimmers sold to average £1670.28.
