N.S.B.A. Championships – Kilkenny

The first National Sheep Breeders Association of Ireland Championships were held this weekend in Kilkenny featuring classes from ten different breeds including five all Ireland Championships. Below are just a few of the days winners, there are LOTS more to see in our photosales section.

Belclare Champion from Declan and Joe Miley

Reserve Champion Belclare was this ram lamb, Rathkenty Dominator from Richard and John Lalor

Vendeen Champion, the shearling ewe Ballinascraw Rhianna from John Lynch

Ena Nagle’s senior ram Quitrent Pablo was Reserve Champion Vendeen

Texel Champion the ewe HBN-16-01411 from John Neville

Reserve Texel Champion, J, C & M McHugh’s ewe HUI-16-076

Male Champion Texel was this tup lamb from Ronan Gallagher

J, C & M McHugh took the Reserve Male Championship in the Texels with the shearling ram Thornville Alberto

Suffolk champion was Arthur O’Keeffe’s shearling ewe

Reserve Suffolk Champion was Patrick O’Keeffe’s shearling ewe

Male Suffolk Champion Susan O’Keeffe’s tup lamb

Reserve male champion was the second prize tup lamb from Seamus Browne

Jacob Champion, the two-shear ram, Dunmoor Buckaroo from Cathal Walsh

Cathal Walsh also took the Reserve Championship with a gimmer

Zwartbles Champion was Colin Stephenson’s ewe Woodfield Emerald

Reserve Champion was Tim Keheller’s ewe lamb Clashklock Flo

John Powell took the Male Championship with his tup Ballygar Eric

Wicklow Cheviot Champion, Michael Burke’s three-year-old ram

Reserve Wicklow Cheviot was another three-year-old ram, this time from Joe Burke

Beltex Champion was the ram JRC-17-011 from Alan Cuddy

Reserve was a ewe, JRC-17-004, from the same home

Blue Texel champion was a Ram Lamb from Vicky Collison

Vicky also picked up the Reserve Championship with a ewe lamb

Charollais Champion, the gimmer H19-17-009 from M, D & J Miley

The Miley’s also took Reserve Overall with their senior ewe Logie Durno Oprah

Male Champion was a tup lamb from Michael Power

Commercial Champion was David Kelly’s Texel X Suffolk Ewe Lamb

David also took the Reserve Championship with a Texel cross Shearling Ewe
