Kelso Ram Sales ’17

A successful day at Kelso Ram Sales saw 4452 rams sell to average £709.63 and an 82% clearance. Top price was £23,000 for a Texel shearling from the Wights at Midlock, who also led the Bluefaced Leicester section, selling a shearling at £12,000.

We ended up taking mainly Texels, as there was a steady stream of them heading out to be photographed. See below for some of the top priced lots, with more in the Photo Sales section.

Top price Bluefaced Leicester from Midlock, by a £34,000 Kirkby Redgate sire, sold to the Kays at Hartside, Lauder

At £9000 from J & E Campbell, Rosebrough, was this son of Forkins Viagra, which sold to Procters

Also at £9000, this one from Steven Renwick’s Craig Douglas pen, by Haddo Whisky Galore, sold to AE Williams & Son

At £8000, this son of Scrogton Vulcan from Iain Minto, Townhead, sold to the Harehead and Blackadder flocks

Making £7000 was this one from Jonathan Watson, Bowsden Moor, a Haymount Vava Voom son which sold to the Scotts at Fearn Farm

Best for Loosebeare was this Loosebeare Voomer son which made £6500 to AR Bell & Son

Elmscleugh sold this one at £6000, a Milnbank Wisconsin son which went to Peter & Lynn Gray

Cambwell’s £5800 seller, a Cambwell Trademark son, which sold to Will Case, Nab Point

Also at £5800, from Blackadder, a Hartside Utopia son, which sold to JM Carlile

Another from Jonathan Watson’s Brijon flock, this Brackenridge Strongbow son sold at £5800 to the Loosebeare and Whitehart flocks

Midlock’s £5000 seller, by Deveronvale Warrior, went to Brian McAllister

Garngour sold this Mossvale Winston son at £4500 to the Sutherlands at Stainland and Sibmister Farms

Top price Texel lamb, a Ballynahone Yorkie son from Strawfrank, sold at £4400 to Russel & Gill Watkins’ Millend flock

Top price Beltex, from the Buckles, by Buckles Absolute, sold at £3200 to JM Hall, Scosthrop Farm

Top price Cheviot, at £1300, a Synton Springbok son from Allanshaws
