Texel – Worcester
Prices reached 23,000gns at the Texel Society’s English National sale at Worcester, breaking centre records, with 57 shearling rams averaging £1298 and 190 ram lambs levelling at £1194.
Making the top price was Peacehay Ya Belter, a shearling ram from the Chave family’s flock at Wellungton Somerset. He is by the Kelso-bought Scrogtonhead U Stoater, out of a ewe by Sheeoch Tardis. Buyers were Halbeath, Langside and Drayton Farm Partnership.
Best in the ram lambs was a 17,000gns bid for Usk Vale Albatross, from Will Davis. This son of Strathbogie Ya Belter sold to Gordon and David Gray, from their Ettrick and Tima flocks.
Gimmers peaked at 4500gns for one from Robert Cockburn’s Knap flock, which sold to Halbeath. Overall, 92 gimmers averaged out at £967.
