Texel – Lanark
Texel ram lambs sold to an incredible 130,000gns at the Scottish National show and sale at Lanark, with 415 averaging out at £2704 and a 77% clearance.
Making the top money was Sportsmans A Star from Charlie Boden’s flock at Mellor, Stockport. A son of last year’s Lanark topper, 70,000gns Teiglum Young Gun, he is out of a Cowal-bred ewe by Cairnam Talisman, which was purchased for 9000gns in 2014. Buyers were Hugh and Alan Blackwood, Auldhouseburn, Muirkirk, and John Forsyth for his Glenside flock at Maybole.
Meanwhile, gimmers sold well the evening before, with 67 averaging out at £1550.55. Top price was 7500gns, for a daughter of Glenside Razzle Dazzle, from DJJ Watkins, Cwmcerrig flock at Gorslas, Llanelli, Carmarthenshire. She sold to Kenny Pratt’s Hilltop flock at Peterculter, Aberdeen.
