Blacknose Beauties – Carlisle

The second ever show dedicated to the rare swiss Valais Blacknose sheep was held at Borderway Mart, Carlisle. Judges Richard Zeiter and Kurt Hildbrand, both from Switzerland, graded the sheep, with the highest scoring lots qualifying for Saturday’s Show.

It was Raymond Irvine and Jenni McAllister’s female champion, the two-year-old ewe Highland Breeze, which picked up the overall champion award for the second year running.

After the show, a sale was held, including some of the show sheep. Reserve overall champion and male champion, the March-born lamb, Westmorland Edward from Tim Dunne, sold for the top price of 7100gns.

The sale saw 15 lots sell to average £2562. The top priced lots are pictured below, along with a few happy snaps from the day. Plenty more can be viewed in our photo sales section.
