Valais Blacknose National Show

The inaugural UK show and sale of Swiss Valais Blacknose sheep took place at Borderway Mart, Carlisle, on Saturday, attracting a huge crowd.

Taking the Supreme Champion title was Highland Breeze from Raymond Irvine and Jenni McAllister. Lifting the reserve trophy was Tim Dunne of Cumbria, with Westmorland Dancer. Hosted by the UK Valais Blacknose Sheep Society (VBSSUK), the show had an entry of more than 150 sheep.

It was a successful day all-round for Scottish breeders, Raymond and Jenni, who received the top price in the sale ring with an in-lamb gimmer which sold for £3600.

Photographs of prize winners are shown below. The full selection of photographs from the day can be viewed in the Photo Sales section.
