
Black Isle Show 2015
This year’s 178th Black Isle Show was blessed with dry weather and a busy turn out of spectators around the ringsides. The Highland Cattle National Show and Jacob Scottish National Show both took place at the event.
Below are just some of the champions captured on Thursday and as always, there are plenty more to view in our Photo Sales section.

Interbreed sheep champion was this two crop Charollais ewe from the Ingram family, Logie Durno

The cattle Interbreed was won by Pentland Lady from Ian Sinclair, Clyth Mains, Lybster, Caithness. She was bred in Orkney by Balfour Baillie and purchased at Thainston Spectacular last year.

Supreme in-hand heavy horse – seven-year-old Clydesdale mare, Galcantray Angel from David Walker and Beverly Brown

Highland champion – Prionnsa Dubh of Craigowmill from HM The Queen

Reserve overall Highland – Skye of Rannoch from Donald MacNaughton

North Country Cheviot and reserve overall sheep was George Cormack’s home-bred three-crop ewe by Sebay Legacy

Bluefaced Leicester champion, Mathew Seed’s home-bred ewe by Cassington D1. She was champion at Turriff this year.

The Blackface champion went to Harestone. This home-bred gimmer is by £14,000 Elmscleugh and out of a ewe bought from Allanfauld

Winning the Beltex section was this tup lamb from Donald Douglas. He is by Airyolland Sovereign out of a Kinchyle ewe

Suffolk champion for the second year in a row was this home-bred two crop ewe from M and I Bissett, Culnaskeath. She is by Galcantray Jukebox and out of a home-bred ewe by Stockton Meastro

Lee Sutherland, Crosskirk, won the Texel championship with this home-bred February-born ewe lamb by Garngour Ultimatum and out of an Ettrick Rainbow Warrior dam.

Zwartble champion – Jim Mair, The Hollies, Beauly, with this home-bred ewe which was also champion at the show last year.

Aberdeen Angus champion from Donald Rankin was Retties Lady Ruth, she also stood champion at Perth last week.

British Blue champion – Solwayview Haribo from Iain Sinclair

British Blonde champion – Strathisla Jodie from Alison Watt. She was champion at Banchory and reserve at Turriff.

Johnny and Raymond Irvine, Inverlochy, picked up the Charolais championship with two-year-old Kilbline Instigator, purchased recently in Ireland.

The Crofters champion went to Donald Morrison, Kinlochbervie, with this BB cross heifer.

John Clark, Kinnahaird, won the Limousin title with seven-year-old Grahams Chantilly, she was purchased from Grahams as a calf.

Simmental champion was Bel Dhu Capercaillie from the Greens at Corskie
