Lanark Blackface – Lambs

Blackface breeders had a day to remember at the Lanark lamb sale yesterday, with the pen number one from Alastair MacArthur’s Nunnerie flock smashing the breed record, selling for £100,000 to Elmscleugh. It was a proud day too for shepherd Craig Thornborrow, and Alastair’s son David, who has recently gone home to work after completing his degree at Stirling University. They are pictured above, leaving the ring (before the tears set in!).

Not far behind was Blackhouse, selling their best for £90,000, equalling the previous breed record set by Dalchirla in 2012. Overall, 200 lambs were sold, 16 more than last year, to average £4339, up £227.10 on the year.
