
Lanark – Texels & Beltex
Texel and Beltex sheep sold well at Lanark on Thursday. At the Scottish Texel Club show and sale, trade peaked at 2600gns for the pre-sale champion, Craig Douglas VIP, from Steven Renwick, selling to Meikle Jackson, Wolfclyde, Biggar. A son of the 18,000gns Sportsmans Unbeatable, he is out of a ewe by Teiglum Nevada.
Texel averages: 11 shearling rams, £551.73; 212 ram lambs, £489.29; 11 gimmers, £297.40; 20 Swaites gimmers, £596.40; 11 Kypeview gimmers, £352.23.
Beltex sheep sold to 2300gns for Airyolland Waltzer, a ram lamb from Neale and Janet McQuistin’s Airyolland flock from New Luce, Newton Stewart. Sired by Airyolland Pagan and out of Airyolland Shimmy, an Airyolland Pirate daughter, he sold in a two way split to Neil Caul, Balkello, Angus, and David Thornley, of the Dooley flock in Hartshorne, Derbyshire.
Beltex averages: 125 shearling rams, £599.76; 58 ram lambs, £549.98; five ewes, £264.60; 31 gimmers, £412.89; four ewe lambs, £682.50.
