Blackface females hit 5200gns at Lanark
Blackface females met a strong demand at Lanark on Saturday, where the 58 lots averaged out at £1375 (13 ewes at £2213 and 45 gimmers at £1133).
Trade topped at 5200gns for the champion, Ewesain, a one-crop ewe from Ewen Macmillan, Lurg, Fintry, sired by Balliemeanoch Stag and carrying twins to the £50,000 Pole tup. Picked out as best by judge Iain Finlay, Blackcraig, she sold jointly to the Blackcraig and Troloss flocks.
Taking reserve was a gimmer from the Wights’ Crimp Cramp flock. Sired by a home-bred son of a £40,000 Nunnerie and in lamb to the £26,000 Dalchirla, she sold at 2300gns to G Watson, Straiton, Maybole.
