Lanark – Texel – Aug ’25
Prices peaked at 110,000gns and a further 11 lambs hit the five-figure mark, at the Scottish National Texel sale at Lanark. Overall, 155 ram lambs sold to average £4791, an 81% clearance of the 189 forward and £991 up on last year’s sale, for 19 fewer sold.
Hitting the top spot at 110,000gns was Midlock Inferno, from the Wight family’s flock in Crawford. His sire, Claybury Hotshot, had been purchased for just 2200gns, while the dam, a Sportsmans Cannon Ball daughter, has previously bred lambs to 42,000gns. He was knocked down to the Sportsmans and Auldhouseburn flocks.
It was an Allanfauld gimmer that led the female trade, selling for 20,000gns, again to the Auldhouseburn and Sportsmans flocks. Sired by Knap Godzilla and out of a Procters Chumba Wumba, she is a full sister to the gimmer that was reserve female champion at the Royal Highland and champion of champions at Biggar Show, this summer. Overall, seven gimmers averaged out at £4782.
