Lanark – Texels

Texels sold well at the Scottish National Sale at Lanark, with 390 ram lambs averaging £2487 and reaching an unbelievable top price of 145,000gns for Knap Vicious Sid, a Tamnamoney Turborg Gold son from Robert Cockburn’s Crieff-based flock.

Gimmers averaged £1479 for 54 and peaked at 7000gns for a Knock Papoose daughter from Gordon Gray’s Ettrick flock.

Sale leader at 145,000gns, Knap Vicious Sid from Robert Cockburn, which sold to the Sportsmans, Cowal and Auldhouseburn flocks


Second top price at 85,000gns was Cornmore Velvet Jacket, from John Leitch, which sold to Glenside and Wester Crosshill


Making 52,000gns, Mullan Vivaldi, from Brian Hanthorn, which went to Strathbogie, Deveronvale and Harestone


John Forsyth’s Glenside Valhalla sold at 42,000gns to Milnbank and Strathbogie


Garngour Vintage made 13,000gns for the Clark family, and sold to Knock, Haddo and Fordafourie


Selling at 11,000gns, Robbie Wilson’s Milnbank Vantastic, which went to Arkle


Another at 11,000gns, Stainton Vigilante from Peter Woof, which sold to the Duncryne, Nochnary, Ballochneck, Kaker Mill and Heyworth Lodge flocks


Selling at 10,000gns, Angus McColm’s Crailloch Vinnie, which sold to Ian Millar’s Millcomb flock


At 8000gns, the Campbell family’s Cowal Viceroy, which sold to a syndicate of six Northern Ireland buyers


Procters Vagabond from Procters Farm, sold for 8000gns to Keith Jamieson’s Annan flock


Hilltop Valhalla made 8000gns for Kenny Pratt, selling to Cambwell, Ettrick and Eastertown


Also at 8000gns, the Clarks’ Garngour Vendetta, which sold to the Eglur and Wydden flocks


Top price gimmer at 7000gns, GGH1303204 from Ettrick, which sold to Archie Hamilton’s Smyllum flock


Overall champion at the pre-sale show, Robbie Wilson’s gimmer, LYM1301012, which sold to Archie Hamilton


Reserve overall champion, Robert Laird’s gimmer, LTC1301593, which sold to the Knock flock


Fourth top price gimmer, Robbie Wilson’s LYM1301131 made 3200gns to Scott Armstrong, Castrian Texels
